Prior to understanding what yoga means, it is important to know that we are referring here about one of the ancient practices from India which comprises diverse range intentional or mind-inculcative physical postures; the liberation aspect through 4 phase pranayama (breathing exercises) and yogic points applied for meditation support as well ethical principles useful in day-to-day lives. Yoga is a Sanskrit word that means to join; or in other words, it unites the mind, body and spirit.
Yoga has been developed into different styles and concepts, each with their concentration area & practices:
Hatha yoga: Focuses on physical postures and breath control, often preparatory for more advanced styles.
Vinyasa Yoga: A continuous flow of poses linked with breath, leading to a dynamic, flowing style.
Ashtanga Yoga: A specifically sequenced and particular order of postures that is practiced in a traditional way by the highly physical means at its extended alignment.
Iyengar Yoga: Centers around proper alignment and utilizes props to assist students in performing correct form.
Kundalini Yoga: Promises spiritual energy through a mix of postures, breathing techniques, chanting and meditation.
Yin Yoga: long-held, passive postures targeting the deep connective tissues of the body and work to promote.
